In-home Care Technology and Support At Home
As Australia transitions from the existing Home Care Packages (HCP) program to the new Support at Home Program, commencing November 1, 2025, a significant shift in focus is emerging, particularly around the integration of technology.
Technology in focus: a comparison
The Home Care Program had no prominent emphasis on technology as a distinct funding stream. In contrast, the Support at Home Program elevates the role of technology, particularly Assistive Technology (AT) and Home Modifications (HM), to help support independence for care recipients. Dedicated funding, purpose-driven support, structured provision with prescriptions, and recognition of specified needs that may warrant ongoing funding.
The Lumin Advantage in the New Landscape
Lumin's services, including 24-hour on-call emergency assistance and medication reminders, may align with the Support at Home Program's Nursing Care service type. Capabilities in coordinating social activities and check-in services may fall under social support and community engagement. Support for ongoing assessment and planning can be delivered virtually. Lumin may also be funded under the AT-HM Scheme.
