What is the Support at Home program?
The Support at Home program is a new Australian Government initiative commencing on November 1, 2025, designed to simplify and improve in-home aged care services. It will replace the Home Care Packages (HCP) Program and the Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC) Program.
Funding and eligibility
Eligibility generally requires being aged 65 or older (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people). Support at Home will have eight levels of ongoing support, with annual funding up to approximately $78,000. If you are already receiving a Home Care Package, you will automatically transition on November 1, 2025, and your current funding level will be maintained.
Can Lumin be covered under Support at Home?
Lumin may be covered under the Support at Home program. Depending on assessed needs, Lumin may be prescribable under the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) Scheme, which provides separate funding tiers: Low (under $500), Medium (up to $2,000), and High (up to $15,000).
