How do I re-send an SMS invitation to a Supporter?
Last updated 28 July 2026
If you've invited someone to be a Supporter but they haven't received the SMS invitation — or it arrived and they couldn't get to it before the link expired — you have a couple of options.
Check first: did the SMS actually go out?
Before re-sending, it's worth checking a few common reasons the SMS might not have arrived:
- Wrong country code or mistyped number. For an Australian number it should be in the format 04xx xxx xxx (with the leading 0). For an overseas number, the country code is needed (e.g., +1 for the US).
- Number with no SMS reception. Some VoIP numbers (work phones, virtual numbers) can't receive SMS.
- SMS blocking. Some phones or carriers block SMS from short codes or unknown senders.
- The person's phone was off or out of coverage. The SMS may still arrive once they're back online.
Re-sending through the Supporters App
A Supporter whose invitation hasn't been accepted yet appears greyed out in your Address Book, which makes them easy to spot.
- Open the Lumin Supporters App.
- Tap Settings, then Address Book.
- Tap the greyed-out name of the pending Supporter.
- On their details screen, tap Resend Invite. The invitation SMS goes out again to the same number. If the number itself was wrong, that's not something you can correct here — contact Lumin Support and we'll fix it, or remove the pending invitation and invite them again with the right number (see the article on adding a Supporter).
Re-sending or fixing through Lumin Support
If the in-app option isn't working, or the original mobile number was wrong and you'd like help correcting it, contact Lumin Support. We can:
- Confirm whether the SMS was sent successfully on our end
- Re-send the invitation
- Correct a wrong mobile number
- Add the Supporter manually if SMS truly won't reach them (we'll verify identity first; the Supporter receives their initial login credentials another way, like a verified email)
