How do I connect the CareHub to mains power?

Connecting the CareHub to mains power is the only setup step you might need to do yourself — and it's straightforward. The CareHub is designed to stay plugged in continuously.

Step by step

1. Find the charging port on the back of the CareHub. Look for a small power icon near the port.
2. Plug the power adapter into the charging port. Different CareHub generations have slightly different ports:
   • V2 hardware (black models): the port is round (a DC barrel connector).
   • E3 hardware (white models): the port is flat (USB-C). The adapter that came in your box matches the model.
3. Plug the other end into a wall outlet. Any standard household power point is fine.
4. Switch the outlet on if it has a switch.
5. The CareHub turns itself on within 20–30 seconds. You don't need to press a button.

Choosing where to plug it in

A few practical things to think about when picking a power outlet:

• Keep the CareHub plugged in continuously. It's designed to be always-on. Frequent unplugging causes Offline alerts for Supporters and reduces the value of features like reminders.
• Pick an outlet near where the CareHub lives. Hallway corners, kitchen benches, lounge sideboards — wherever you'll naturally use it. The CareHub is light, so it can be moved later if needed.
• Avoid outlets that get switched off. Some homes have lamp switches on the wall that cut power to a particular outlet — make sure the CareHub isn't on one of those.
• Use the supplied adapter. Don't swap it for another phone or tablet charger, even if the plug looks the same. The CareHub adapter is specified for the device.

If you've plugged it into the wrong port

The most common confusion on early CareHub models is plugging the power adapter into the headphone or USB port instead of the dedicated power input. The CareHub won't turn on if you do this. If you're not sure, look for the small power icon near the port — that's the right one. If the CareHub doesn't come on within a minute or two of being plugged in, this is the first thing to check.

Power cuts and Wi-Fi outages

If you have a power cut, the CareHub will turn off, and turn itself back on automatically when power returns. Software updates, settings, and contacts are all preserved. If only the home Wi-Fi goes out, the CareHub stays on (it's still receiving power) and falls back to its built-in 4G connection where available. You don't need to do anything.
