What are the CareHub's specifications?

The CareHub is a purpose-built device rather than a repackaged consumer tablet. The specifications below cover the current hardware.

Display and physical

• Screen: 15.6-inch IPS touchscreen
• Stand: integrated, with a VESA mount option for wall mounting
• Speakers and microphone: full-size, built in — sized for a room, not for headphones The screen is deliberately large. It's meant to be read from across a room by someone who may not have their glasses on, which is why it isn't a tablet.

Connectivity

• Ethernet, including Power over Ethernet (PoE)
• 4G/LTE mobile data via a micro-SIM The device falls back between these, so one network failure doesn't take it offline. See the separate connectivity article.

NFC

13.56 MHz, supporting ISO/IEC 14443A/B, ISO/IEC 15693, and Mifare. This is what allows the CareHub to work with access control and intercom systems where a village has them.

Power and battery

The CareHub is designed to stay plugged into mains power. The internal battery is for bridging a power cut or moving the device between rooms, not for sustained portable use. Runtime depends on hardware generation — roughly 4 to 8 hours on the earlier generation, and up to 40 hours on standby on the current one. The battery article covers this in detail.
