What is the Lumin CareHub?

The Lumin CareHub is a touchscreen device made for older adults — a 15.6-inch screen that sits in your home and quietly connects you to the people and things that matter. It's purpose-built rather than adapted from a phone or tablet, which means it works the way you'd want a piece of technology to work: no logins, no passwords, no app stores to navigate, no software updates to install. The CareHub combines four things that are usually scattered across different devices:

• A way to stay in touch — video and audio calls with family and friends, messages, and shared photos
• A connection to your community — village news, events, bookings, your Resident Handbook, and interest groups when you're in a village setting
• Entertainment — radio, podcasts, Lumin TV, and cognitive games, curated to be enjoyable rather than overwhelming
• Safety and reassurance — emergency and duress functionality, with how it works depending on your plan or your village's setup The screen is large enough to be comfortable for anyone with reduced vision or dexterity. Calls can be answered with a single tap — or set to answer automatically if that suits better. Voice activation is on the way, which will let people make calls and navigate the device by speaking, with support for multiple languages. The CareHub is monitored remotely 24 hours a day, every day of the year. That means if something goes wrong with the device — connectivity, a fault, a low battery — Lumin sees it before you have to call us. Software updates happen automatically in the background. Triple connectivity (Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and a built-in 4G SIM) keeps the device online even if one of those drops. The CareHub is not a tablet or a phone replacement. If you already enjoy using a smartphone or a tablet, you're welcome to keep using it — the CareHub doesn't get in the way. It's there for the moments where a simpler, larger, always-on device makes life easier.

How the CareHub fits with other Lumin products

If you're new to Lumin, here's how the CareHub sits alongside everything else:

• Lumin Supporters App — a free mobile app for family and friends, used to send messages, share photos, set reminders, and receive alerts about you or your loved one
• Lumin App — for residents who are comfortable on their own smartphone or tablet and want community features without the CareHub
• Lumin Community Management Portal — used by village or care professional staff to communicate with residents and manage the service You don't need to use all of these. Most households use the CareHub plus the Supporters App, and that's it.

What the CareHub is not

• It is not a medical device. Lumin is a technology platform, not a care provider.
• It is not a tablet you can install apps on. The simplicity is intentional — additional features like a web browser or specific apps can be activated on request through Lumin Support.
• It is not insured by Lumin against accidental damage. Home contents cover usually applies for renters; outright purchasers may want to check their insurance arrangements.
