How do I turn on the CareHub?

    Last updated 28 July 2026

The CareHub is designed to be on all the time, like a kitchen appliance you don't really think about. For most people, after the initial setup visit, turning it on isn't something you need to do day-to-day — it just stays on. But occasionally — after a move, a power cut, or if it's been unplugged — you might need to turn it on. Here's how.

    Standard turn-on

The CareHub will turn itself on automatically the moment it's plugged into mains power.

    • Plug the power adapter into the back of the CareHub.
    • Plug the other end into a wall outlet.
    • Wait about 20 to 30 seconds for the screen to come on. You don't need to press a power button. The CareHub knows what to do.

If the screen doesn't come on

If you've plugged it in and after a minute or two there's still no screen activity:

    1. Check the power point. Make sure the wall outlet is switched on (some Australian outlets have an on/off switch). Try plugging something else into the same outlet to confirm it's working.
    2. Check the power cable. Make sure both ends are firmly plugged in — at the wall, and at the back of the CareHub.
    3. Check you've used the right port on the CareHub. Some early CareHub models have multiple ports at the back, and it's possible to plug the power adapter into the wrong one (a headphone or USB port instead of the power input). The right port has a small power icon next to it.
    4. Press and hold the power button. As a last resort, press and hold the small power button at the back of the CareHub for about 5 seconds. If after all that the screen is still dark, contact Lumin Support — the device is monitored remotely, so we may already be seeing the issue from our end.

The power button — what it does

The power button at the back of the CareHub is mostly used for accessing Settings, Reboot, and Power Off. Press and hold it until three options appear on the screen.

    • Power Off — fully shuts down the CareHub. You won't usually need to do this.
    • Reboot — restarts the device. Useful if something's behaving oddly. Takes about a minute.
    • Settings — opens system settings (Wi-Fi, accessibility, etc.). For day-to-day use, you don't need to touch the power button at all.
