What is Lumin OneTouch and how do I use it?

    Last updated 28 July 2026

Lumin OneTouch is a simplified version of the CareHub, designed specifically for people living with dementia or significant cognitive change. It runs on the same hardware as the standard CareHub, but with a deliberately reduced interface focused on what matters most. OneTouch was co-designed with peak bodies supporting people with dementia, and it follows what those communities have asked for: less choice, larger touch targets, fewer interruptions.

    How OneTouch is different

The standard CareHub has many tiles — Phone, Messages, Photos, Calendar, Community, Entertainment, Games, Emergency. OneTouch reduces this to a small set of large, clear tiles that focus on staying connected to family. The exact set is configured per person, but typically includes:

    • Phone — with Supporter faces as large icons (up to 6) for easy one-tap calling
    • Photos — the slideshow of family photos, central to the OneTouch experience
    • Emergency — where the plan includes it Things deliberately absent on OneTouch:
    • Dial Pad — open-ended dialling can be confusing rather than helpful
    • Messages composition — incoming messages still arrive, but composing isn't usually offered
    • Calendar and reminders — these still happen in the background (medication reminders, family birthdays) but aren't browsable
    • Community module — village events and handbook may still surface, but in a simplified way
    • Entertainment — typically simplified or replaced with a focused entertainment offering The reduction is the point. A person who can't reliably navigate eight tiles can usually navigate three.

    Who is OneTouch for

    OneTouch is for people who:

    • Are living with dementia or significant cognitive change
    • Find the standard CareHub overwhelming
    • Benefit from a smaller number of large, clear choices
    • Need their family or Supporters to handle scheduling, messaging, and reminders on their behalf It's not just for people in residential aged care. Some Individuals at home use OneTouch with strong Supporter or family involvement.

    How to switch to OneTouch

If you or your loved one would benefit from the OneTouch interface:

    1. Contact Lumin Support.
    2. We'll talk through whether OneTouch is the right fit and what to configure.
    3. The change is applied remotely — no new device, no separate purchase. Switching to OneTouch doesn't affect Supporters' use of the Lumin Supporters App. Supporters can still send messages, photos, reminders — those land on the OneTouch screen in a way the person can see and respond to with a single tap.

    Going back to standard CareHub

If OneTouch isn't quite right, or someone's situation changes, switching back to the standard CareHub is just as easy. Contact Lumin Support.
