What is the Lumin App?

The Lumin App is a free mobile app for iPhone and Android that brings the Lumin platform to a phone or tablet. It's different from the Lumin Supporters App — the Lumin App is for the person Lumin is built around (resident, participant, or individual), used on their own personal device rather than on the CareHub. Lumin has three mobile apps, so it's worth being clear which one you're reading about: the Lumin App (this article) is for the person Lumin is built around; the Lumin Supporters App is for family and close friends supporting them; and Lumin Property is for village property and maintenance teams. Resident or individual context

If you're a confident smartphone user — or you'd like access to your village community on the go — the Lumin App gives you the things you'd get on a CareHub, on your phone:

• Your village's community news, events, and noticeboard
• Calendars and bookings
• The Residents Handbook
• Maintenance requests (where the village uses this)
• Messaging with Supporters
• Photos shared with you For people who already enjoy a smartphone and don't necessarily need the CareHub's larger screen, the Lumin App is enough on its own. For people with a CareHub, the Lumin App is a useful complement — same platform, on the device you carry.

Care professional or participant context

For care providers under Support at Home or similar programs, the Lumin App can be used by participants for provider-to-participant communication. This is a different use pattern from village community — it's about staying in touch with the care team, receiving updates, and coordinating around appointments and check-ins, not building a shared community. In a care professional context, the Lumin App is the participant's tool. Care professionals themselves use the Community Management Portal (see the separate article).

What the Lumin App is not

• Not the Lumin Supporters App. The Supporters App is for family and close friends checking in on someone using the CareHub. The Lumin App is for the person themselves. Different audience, different features.
• Not Lumin Property. Lumin Property is the field app for village property and maintenance teams — condition reports, maintenance tasks, and asset monitoring. If that's what you're after, see the Lumin Property article.
• Not a replacement for the CareHub. For people who need a large screen, no logins, and gentler navigation, the CareHub remains the right tool. The Lumin App and the CareHub are complementary.
• Not free for non-customers. You can download the Lumin App freely from the App Store or Google Play, but you'll only be able to log in if you've been added to a Lumin platform — through a village, a care provider, or as an individual customer.
