What can I do as a Supporter?

    Last updated 28 July 2026

A Supporter is family, a friend, or someone close who's been added to a CareHub user's circle to stay in touch with them and keep an eye out for them. Being a Supporter doesn't require any technical knowledge — the Supporters App is built to be simple, free, and useful whether you're checking in once a week or several times a day. Here's what you can do.

    Stay in touch

    • Make video and audio calls to the CareHub. The person on the CareHub answers with a single tap.
    • Send messages — text, photos, and short videos — that appear on the CareHub in a way that's easy for the person to see and respond to.
    • Share photos that become part of the CareHub's slideshow, so the person sees them naturally as they use the device.

    Stay informed

    • Receive alerts when things matter. The kinds of alert you'll get depend on the plan — see the separate articles on alerts and on emergency response by plan.
    • See connection and battery status — if the CareHub goes offline or runs low on battery, you get a quiet notification so it doesn't become a surprise.

    Help with daily life

    • Set reminders for medication, appointments, or anything else worth a nudge. Reminders appear on the CareHub at the right time, in a clear and gentle way.
    • Share calendar events — birthdays, family visits, regular routines.

    Manage your role

    • Edit your own profile — your name, photo, mobile number.
    • Invite other Supporters (where the CareHub user permits this) so the load is shared.
    • Step back by removing yourself as a Supporter if your circumstances change.

    What you can't see

Supporters have a deliberately limited view — Lumin's privacy model means you see what's relevant to staying connected and informed, not everything the CareHub user does. You'll see:

    • Alerts and notifications
    • Activity signals (online, offline, battery)
    • The messages, photos, and reminders you yourself have sent You won't see:
    • Calls or messages between the CareHub user and other Supporters
    • The CareHub user's call history more broadly
    • Anything the CareHub user is doing on the device beyond what Lumin specifically surfaces to Supporters This is by design. The CareHub user's daily life on the device is private to them.

    Multi-resident support

If you'd like to be a Supporter for more than one person — for example, both your parents — that isn't possible yet on a single Supporters App account, and there's no workaround Lumin can configure. It's planned for a future version, with no release date yet. See the separate article on supporting more than one person.
