How do I receive a call from someone who isn't a Supporter?
Last updated 28 July 2026
The CareHub has its own phone number — anyone can call you on it, the same as they would on a regular landline. You don't need them to be a Supporter, and they don't need the Lumin Supporters App.
Finding the CareHub's phone number
The CareHub has an assigned landline number — it's separate from anyone's mobile, and it stays with the device. To find your number:
- Tap the Phone tile on the CareHub home screen.
- Tap the Dial Pad icon (the 3×3 grid of numbers).
- The CareHub's number is shown at the top of the Dial Pad screen. You can share that number with anyone you'd like to be able to call you — your GP, family who haven't joined Lumin, anyone.
Receiving a call
When someone calls your CareHub number:
- The CareHub rings — there's an audible ring and the screen shows who's calling (if it's a known contact) or just the number (if it's unknown).
- A large green Answer button and a red Decline button appear on the screen.
- Tap Answer to accept the call. Tap Decline to send it to voicemail.
- After a few rings without an answer, the call goes to voicemail automatically. Calls from non-Supporters are audio only — no video. (Video calls work only between the CareHub and registered Supporters using the Lumin Supporters App.)
Voicemail
The CareHub has voicemail enabled. If someone leaves a message, you'll see a notification on the home screen. There's a separate article on listening to voicemail.
Receiving messages from non-Supporters
Receiving messages and photos through Lumin is a Supporter-only feature — non-Supporters can't message the CareHub. If a friend wants to send messages and photos, they'd need to be added as a Supporter (see the separate article). SMS isn't supported on the CareHub's number. If someone sends a text to the CareHub's landline number, it's dropped — it won't appear on the device. Voice calls and voicemail are the way non-Supporters can reach the CareHub; for written contact, becoming a Supporter is the path.
Blocking unwanted calls
If you're getting unwanted or spam calls on the CareHub, the Ease of Mind and Rest Assured plans include spam-and-scam call blocking — these plans automatically screen out known nuisance callers. If a specific number keeps calling and the spam blocker hasn't caught it, contact Lumin Support — we can add a block for that number.
