How do Proactive Daily Wellbeing Checks work?

    Last updated 28 July 2026

Proactive Daily Wellbeing Checks are an optional add-on for the Rest Assured plan, at $10 per month. Rest Assured is one of Lumin's three Individual plans (Just Connect, Ease of Mind, Rest Assured) — it's the plan that includes a 24/7 professional monitoring centre, which is what makes this add-on possible. There's a separate article, What plans are available for individuals and what do they include?, if you'd like the full picture. Daily Wellbeing Checks give households a gentle, daily prompt — and if the person doesn't respond, the monitoring centre is alerted to check in.

    How they work

Each day, at a time you've chosen, a gentle check-in appears on the CareHub. It's a single tap — usually something like "I'm OK today" or a similar low-effort confirmation. The person on the CareHub taps the button, and that's it for the day. If the person doesn't tap within a set window (configured for the household — typically a couple of hours), the 24/7 monitoring centre receives an alert. They'll then:

    1. Attempt to reach the person on the CareHub directly (video or audio call).
    2. If no answer, contact the next person on the response list — usually a Supporter or family member.
    3. If the situation can't be resolved over the phone, dispatch help to the address on file. It's a layer of reassurance that doesn't depend on Supporters being available, paying attention, or interpreting silence.

    What's included

The Rest Assured plan already includes 24/7 monitoring centre response for emergency button presses. The Daily Wellbeing Checks add-on extends that to proactive monitoring — the centre is monitoring whether the person engaged with the daily check, not just waiting for an emergency button. The $10/month add-on covers:

    • The daily check-in mechanism on the CareHub
    • Monitoring of the response window
    • Response from the 24/7 centre if no check-in is received
    • Coordination with Supporters and emergency services as needed

    Who it suits

Daily Wellbeing Checks are particularly useful for:

    • People living alone, where a fall or sudden health change might not be discovered for hours otherwise
    • People with conditions that could deteriorate without obvious external signs
    • Households where Supporters can't be reliably available (travel, time zones, work commitments)
    • Anyone who'd value the reassurance of a daily "tick" without needing a Supporter to chase It's not designed for households where someone is already with the person daily — in those cases, the daily check would create unnecessary noise.

    Who it doesn't suit

For people on Just Connect or Ease of Mind, this add-on isn't available — it requires the Rest Assured monitoring centre infrastructure. If you'd like Daily Wellbeing Checks, the household would first need to be on Rest Assured. For people who find a daily prompt intrusive or anxiety-producing, the add-on may not be the right fit. The whole design rests on the daily tap being a gentle, low-effort thing — not a chore.

    Turning it on or off

Contact Lumin Support to add or remove Daily Wellbeing Checks. The charge appears on the next billing cycle. There's no lock-in — you can turn it off any time.

    Customising it

    You can customise:

    • The time of day the check appears (morning, mid-day, etc.)
    • The response window before an alert is raised
    • The check-in phrase — what the button says, within reason
    • The response list — who gets contacted, in what order, before the monitoring centre escalates These are set up at activation and can be adjusted later through Lumin Support.
